Hello!! I am representing the Young Adult members (College & Graduate students) of Athens Korean Presbyterian Church. Our beloved church ran into a big financial problem, so we decided to set up this fundraiser to ask YOU for your prayers, support, and if possible, small donations.
Right now, the situation looks as though we might have to give up our church building if we cannot raise $32,000 within the next 2 months.
Our church first started off by renting space for worship from another church. Several years ago, we purchased the building that serves as our current worship location. However, as a church that caters primarily to Korean International students and families, it has been rough financially... Although we managed to push through for a while, the mortgage payments and interest caught up to us. The principle amount that needs to be paid off for the building is $409,000. However, of that amount, we need to pay $32,000 immediately.
Although we can confidentally say that our church WILL push through this crisis REGARDLESS of the outcome, the church building holds a lot of meaning to us. For some, they grew up with the church, and they ran through those halls and built their own memories and stories within them. For others, they met and wed the love of their life in those walls. For many, the church helped them adapt to their life in this foreign country and city. Most importantly, this church building is where some people took their first steps in faith and met God for the first time. Although each individual's memories in this building are different, we ALL agree that this building holds a significant meaning to us.
If you feel like God has spoken in your heart today to give, ANYTHING helps -- even if you may think it is "small." Even if you cannot give financially, PLEASE pray for and with us. Prayer is SO SO SO powerful. It would mean so much to us if you would keep us in your prayers. Also, lastly, you can help by SHARING this with your friends and family.
