Greetings All:

As we sit here starting our 10th out of 12 Chemos I’m still a little dazed. My daughter, Akilah, really giggled through stage 3 colon cancer. They really removed a 1/3 of her colon and burned damn near every cell in her body over the last 6months and she’s still smiling and making VERY inappropriate jokes. Which is a Very Akilah thing ☹ Smh lol.

I wish I could say it will be smooth sailing from this point on…

What I haven’t mentioned is the constant battle with insurance, the disappointment in the whole government health care system. Not only are you fighting nausea and fear of permanent neuropathy damage. The fact that every bone in your 29-year-old body feels like your 89 due to the shot you get every Chemo week. But your jumping thru hoops to get help to pay for the torture. The emotional stress makes each treatment worse. Yet We keep laughing and showing up because We will beat this. The Devil Is Busy…But My GOD Is BUSIER became our motto. And We Have Been Doing It!!!

Unfortunately, when the devil sees you winning he goes harder to see you fail…So here we are almost 2 Chemos from the finish line and disability, ADP, Insurance, Charity Care every organization they say should help you in this time of need are once again trying to defeat us ☹ ☹ As Akilah is emotionally done coming off the worse 3 Chemos of the treatment and wants to just give up and stay in bed…NOPE not me! I know something she doesn’t fully understand, she’s seen bits and pieces but not firsthand. WE HAVE A VILLAGE; Family, Friends, Co-Workers and Loved Ones!!!

So today I call on My Village to help Akilah get through these next couple of Chemos and help ease some of her financial stress by donating to her newly formed GoFundMe. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated and even if you can’t financially give, we are accepting Positive Energy and SINCERE Love to help towards her emotional battle as well…
