Akieem Jolla #80 Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Akieem Jolla is, was and will always be a Legend. Tragically, his life was taken away from his daughter (Aniya), family, friends and hundreds of loved ones due to senseless violence.

Anyone who had the privilege of being in his presence immediately recognized that he was blessed with gifts and talents that most could only dream of having. As a young boy growing up on the westbank of New Orleans, his success on the track and football field created a buzz that had every high school in New Orleans  knocking down his mother's door to get him. He chose to attend St. Augustine High School and become a Purple Knight. There, he continued to excel as a two sport star and quickly became known as Akieem "The Dream" Jolla; winning a state championship in track & earning first team All-State honors in football. Entering his senior year, the top college football programs came knocking on his door to recruit the  #4 ranked WR in the country. He would sign his letter of intent to attend The University of Miami (The "U") and made an immediate impact as a true freshman. He concluded his football career at New Mexico State University where he earned a bachelor's degree.

While many people remember him for his greatness on the playing field, those of us who knew him intimately as a brother, a dedicated father and a trustworthy friend; saw so much more. He was one of the most positive people you could find. Always smiling, clapping, and inspiring us to be better in his unique way. Unlike most athletes of Jolla's ilk, he was extremely humble and always showed genuine love and concern to his fellow man.

This fund is being created to honor his legacy, both on and off the field. Donations will be used to assist his family with burial costs and excess proceeds will be used to financially support his daughter's education. All monies will go directly to his family who will make all final decisions on its use.
