Our Dear Con Ed Family and Friends,
It’s with an enormously heavy heart we share that our beloved Peter Cooper lost his son Austin Cooper on Thursday.
As written by Peters nephew, Mike Balsamo:
Love ran through everything Austin did and everything he was — an amazing son, brother, friend, teacher and mentor to so many. His infectious smile, laugh, selflessness and desire to help others touched so many lives. Always humble and generous, he would give anything to help others.
He was an incredible fighter and his love of mixed martial arts and sharing the art with others beamed through to everyone he touched. He had a love and passion in the kitchen as a chef to add a zest to life and express his love. His passion for cooking was paralleled only by his passion for others.
He touched so many people and changed so many lives. The outpouring of support has been tremendous. We are truly grateful for all of your condolences, memories and the stories you’ve shared.
Many of you have reached out and asked how you can help. Your kindness and love are so appreciated as we navigate through this heartbreak. Please know that your support means everything to us.
If you are able to, we would really appreciate any donation, big or small, towards his celebration of life.
A wake will be held Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. at Gleason Funeral Home at 10-25 150th St. in Whitestone. A funeral will follow on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Whitestone.
