Akeem's Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
We lost someone very special to us this weekend, our friend and longtime employee Akeem Hasty. Akeem came to us in 2013 at 20 years old and stuck with us until the end, staying on to help out with weekly projects while we’ve been closed. Some of you may remember Akeem’s story. He was in a car accident in 2018 that almost left him paralyzed. Akeem was so committed to his recovery and through positivity, dedication, and very hard work, he was slowly able to regain control of his limbs and walk again. We had a benefit dinner at Rx and he was so touched by the kindness of our community, who came through for him in his time of need. Akeem was eventually able to come back to work at Rx. Many of you enjoyed Akeem’s biscuits. He could somehow fit more butter into biscuit dough than we thought possible. They were made with pride and love. He was an inspiring person, always kind, always ready to learn something new, and always improving. He had an infectious smile and laugh, and he made people feel good. Everyone loved Akeem. He was just a month shy of his 30th birthday. Please keep his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. We’re raising money to help Akeem’s family with funeral expenses, so please help us by sharing this post or donating if you are able. We’re really going to miss you, Keemsy.
