One of our longtime Rx employees and very dear friend, Akeem Hasty, was in a severe car accident Friday night. He was in the backseat with his seatbelt on, but broke his neck when the car flipped and the roof crushed down. Akeem lost all mobility at that time and after intense spinal surgery Friday night, has gained some mobility back in his right side. He still has no mobility in his left side and is confined to the bed. Akeem has a long road to recovery ahead of him in the hospital and has no medical insurance. He needs all the help he can get right now. Incredibly, he's in high spirits and is determined to get better and get back to work. We’re so proud of him for his strength, determination, and continuously positive outlook. We want to do everything we can to keep his spirits up - the power of positivity can be the best healer - and  helping relieve some of his financial concerns would be very helpful for him, although it's only a small drop in the bucket. He is looking at months of intense physical therapy and is not guaranteed a full recovery, but we are so hopeful. If you have ever had a biscuit at Rx, you can thank Akeem. He’s the best biscuit-maker in town and has been a dedicated employee, team player, friend and Rx family member to us for over four years - we are not the same without him. Please consider helping any way you can in his recovery. Akeem is only 24 years old. He has the kindest heart and is one of the sweetest people I have ever known.
