Hi,
On October 28, 2024, my home caught fire while my husband and I were at work, and luckily our 3 year old at Grandma's.
At home were my mom, 2 boys (11 & 9), and our 2 dogs. My eldest son had come out of his room to get a snack and saw smoke and his GeeMaw frantic. He grabbed the nearest fire extinguisher, but it happened to be empty. Thinking on his feet, he ran back out to the living room for the other. He managed to get the fire down and almost out until the oxygen hose fell reigniting it.
My son knew it was time to go. He managed to get both dogs, his brother, and GeeMaw out of the house without injury and dial 911.
Thank you Truckee Meadows firefighters for your quick response. They managed to contain the fire, but my mom's room is completely gone and everything throughout the rest of the house has been damaged by heat from the flames traveling across the ceiling, the smoke, and the fire department (only good damage). Her clothes, shoes, jackets, purse, and even her ID are either burned to a crisp or a pile of ash.
Only one injury was sustained by his papa, who tripped trying to enter the camper out front to get his phone.
We are asking for help to have the deductible available as well as replace some of my mom's belongings and clothes for the rest of the family.
