Help Support Joshua’s Fight Against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
My name is Audrey, and I am reaching out on behalf of my 19-year-old son, Joshua Starkey, a proud United States Marine who is now facing one of the biggest battles of his life.
Just days ago, our world changed when Joshua was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma — specifically Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). What we thought was routine discomfort turned into a devastating discovery: a large mass growing around his heart and lungs, shown in the CT scan image where doctors circled the affected area. This mass has already begun compressing critical structures, making treatment urgent and aggressive.
Joshua will soon begin 7–9 months of intensive chemotherapy in an effort to shrink the mass and stop the cancer from progressing. As parents, hearing those words and seeing those images is something we will never forget. Watching our son, the same young man who bravely chose to serve his country, now fight for his life is something no parent is ever prepared for.
Despite the diagnosis, Joshua remains strong, focused, and determined. That is who he is. That is who the Marine Corps helped shape him to be. But this journey will be physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelming.
Why We Need Help
While the Marine Corps is providing medical care, there are many expenses not covered, including:
- Travel and lodging for family support during treatment
- Time away from work to be by Joshua’s side
- Meals, transportation, and ongoing living expenses
- Unexpected medical-related costs

Who Joshua Is
Joshua is strong, humble, hardworking, and dedicated. He chose to serve his country at only 17 years old, leaving home with courage well beyond his years. Now, we are asking the community to stand behind him the way he has always stood ready to serve others.
