A FRIEND IN NEED

Donation protected

Dena would like everyone to know how difficult and uncomfortable it is for her to ask for money in this way. She strongly believes in divine order and divine intervention, and although the needed value is correct and minimal in covering her necessities, she does not want anyone to be overwhelmed, because she believes that things will unfold to make this happen, and not necessarily through this page alone. Dena's needs are not all financial. She also hopes to become aware of any resources or areas of assistance that can help her in other ways, and may help reduce or go toward reducing this figure. You can also help her invaluably by visiting, sending cards, sending messages, bringing and or sharing a meal with her and her son, adding her to a guest list or offering a discounted rate on an event that she may attend during a better moment that she has on occasion, or another way, because she highly values your company, energy, thoughts, prayers, and creativity.

For the most part, Dena stays at home, usually only able to do minimal activities to keep things afloat, and her son cared for. Occasionally she can make it out, though her strength and stamina remain low. Sometimes the pain, nausea, and various reactions render her useless, and needing unending rest and sleep. Her last chemo is Thursday, March 9th, with surgery and radiation to follow after required recovery periods at each stage. Hopefully her new insurance will be approved and kick in by April 1st, as her COBRA coverage ended in the end of 2016.
Please help spread the word and share this. Please donate in any amount, as pennies become dollars, and we are thankful for it all.

" I began disability in May of 2016, when my body crashed and I was diagnosed with severe uncontrolled Graves' disease, which required three hospitalizations in July, one of which began with a week in ICU, being on two drips to keep my heart rate up and viable. Graves' is an autoimmune disease, and due to the severity of my case, it threw me into heart and liver failure, as well as being open to, and like a hothouse for other autoimmune diseases. Both my heart failure and liver failure were secondary to the Graves' and are now completely resolved and back to normal, and although my Graves' remains uncontrolled, it continues to slowly go down with antithyroid medication.

Unfortunately, due to the situation created by the severe Graves', I acquired both arthritis and cancer, which are also autoimmune diseases. The arthritis has frozen and deformed part of my neck and four of my fingers which will require surgery. My cancer is stage three with possible metastasis. I am the sole provider and parent, with one of my sons still being a minor and living at home.

My disability benefits will end at the end of April, but treatments of surgery for the arthritis and the remaining chemo, surgery and radiation for cancer before I can recover and secure another job as an RN will not be until August or September. Hopefully not worst case surgery scenario, which may take me into October. I will be looking at fully supporting my son for another five to six months after disability ends, as well as continuing to make payments on medical expenses, which will total over $60,000, which is my portion out of pocket. I have already managed to pay off the same amount out of pocket so far, which I am proud of, but have now exhausted all savings while I am continuing to search for and apply for any resources and services available to cancer patients. Most resources have not been re-funded and I'm uncertain if they will be awarding anything this year."

Thank you to everyone for reading this.
Peace, love and light ❤️
