Tonight, like we do every night, I took the boys out across the street to use the bathroom when I got home from work. As all three boys were going number 2 a car came flying around the corner and was driving well above the speed limit. I screamed and waved to slow down as the car was approaching but it did not and Mac was hit as the result. He wears an ecollar and I always beep him to sit as cars drive by or even hold on to him but he was not directly next to me for me to grab him and he did not sit when I used his remote. I don’t know if he didn’t want to sit because he just pooped or if he didn’t know what to do because of my yelling as the car sped by. We had to rush him to the emergency vet to find out that he has an extremely bad broken leg that needs emergency surgery which is going to cost upwards of $8,000. We were even given the option of ampuatation which is upwards of $6,000. I have a care credit card but my limit is practically maxed out from tonight’s visit. We can not afford neither of those options and have seriously considered putting him down. The vet then convinced us that it’s really only his leg and that putting him down shouldn’t be an option but we can not afford these payments on top of already having to pay over $1,000 for the emergency visit tonight. The vet suggested they keep him and we wait to make a decision tomorrow as they think of alternative routes. She even suggested making a go fund me, so here I am giving my all for my husband to not have to lose his first “baby” (he literarily will pick him up and hold him as if he is not 120 lbs)   who has only lived half his life and still has more to go. Mac is my husband’s baby and I have never seen a man torn up this much over his dog. Mac is the goofiest Doberman I have ever come across. He never slows down and loves playing with his two other brothers Dutch and Buddy. He loves walking in circles in his filled kiddie pool in the summer and loves being outside. When his brothers don’t see him and push him out of the way he is the best cuddle buddy and will just come up to you and poke you in the face with his nose then burry his head into your chest. He is also amazing with children! I would be devastated  for my husband if we would be left with no chance to help out Mac continue with the other half of his life.
