The Elliot Family

The Elliott family is in critical need financially due to multiple brain surgeries at UCLA.
It began in 2002, when Karin Elliott, my wife, was diagnosed with a brain tumor after having severe headaches. The Neurosurgeon at UCLA decided the brain tumor, known as a meningioma, was better to leave in due to only causing headaches and no other neurological symptoms. He stated if and when it caused other problems, then it would have to be surgically removed.
March 2015, Karin awoke in the middle of the night and began having a Grand Mal seizure. The Neurologist who saw her at the ER, where she was hospitalized, referred her back to UCLA. The UCLA Neurosurgeon felt surgery was necessary to remove tumor since it had enlarged and calcified. May 28th, 2015, Karin had surgery at UCLA to remove the tumor. She was hospitalized from Friday through Sunday.
July 17th, 2015, seven weeks post operation, Karin developed an infection and the surgical site began leaking fluid. We took her back to UCLA where the Neurosurgeon performed a craniectomy where the bone was removed due to infection and not replaced and the site washed out. She was in the hospital for multiple days and released on home antibiotics administered through a picc line. After arriving home, the incision site began leaking again and another surgery was performed at UCLA. This time the site was washed out and closed up. She was in the hospital multiple days and released on home antibiotics administered through a picc line. Four days later, the incision site leaked again and she had surgery #4. This time even more skull bone was removed and the surgery was very traumatic, causing Karin to suffer a stroke during surgery. Her left side was paralyzed. She was in the UCLA ICU for numerous days and then in a regular floor room. Total stay this time was 10 days and she was released on home antibiotics administered through the picc line.
We are at home now and have multiple follow up appointments at UCLA with the Neurosurgeon, an Infectious Disease Doctor, and a Plastic Surgeon who was called in on surgery #4 to close the incision site with hopefully viable tissue that would seal. We have had two minor leaks that have stopped due to my wife's, and many other's prayers. My wife will have at least one more surgery to put in a piece of prosthetic plastic, or a bone graft from the opposite side of her skull, to replace the skull that was removed. We are in need of financial help. I have not worked since July 17th, due to her hospitalizations and having to care for her. I am the sole provider and have to depend on working multiple hours of overtime to make it financially. As I have not been able to work since July 17th, I have not worked any overtime, and due to all of the costs associated with the four surgeries, including hotel stays, parking fees, food, gas, and medical bills, we are in great financial need.
If you feel that God is laying it on your heart to help us, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much, and THE LORD bless you. Sincerely, Brian Elliott
