  • Acompanhando o percurso do projeto

Help Bring MOSAICO to Life — Fiction Short Film

MOSAICO is a short film about love, time, and the quiet fractures that shape our lives.

Set almost entirely inside a Lisbon apartment, the film follows Sara and André, a couple in their late thirties who reunite at the end of an ordinary day. What begins as routine, cooking dinner, sharing wine, listening to music, slowly unfolds into an intimate confrontation with the past, with the city they live in, and with the choices that have defined their relationship.

Their apartment becomes more than a setting: it is a witness. Like the old mosaic at the entrance of their building, their lives are made of fragments, some broken, some intact, that only gain meaning when seen together.

MOSAICO is a contained, dialogue-driven film, unfolding between late afternoon and early morning, in a single breath of time. Through the couple’s personal conflict, the film also reflects on broader themes such as gentrification, social inequality, professional ethics, migration, and emotional responsibility in a rapidly transforming Lisbon.

Why This Film Matters

This project is deeply rooted in realism and intimacy. Inspired by works such as Scenes from a Marriage (Ingmar Bergman) and Skylight (David Hare), MOSAICO explores how private relationships are inseparable from the social and political context that surrounds them.

About the Cast & Crew

Our cast brings together strong voices from contemporary Portuguese fiction, including Marta Gil and Mauro Hermínio. On the technical side, we reunite the team behind the short film Estou Aqui, written and directed by Ana Rita Martins, which was selected for several festivals in Portugal, including Caminhos do Cinema Português and Fantasporto.

The crew includes exceptional professionals such as Júlio Antunes (Director of Photography), André Quendera (Editing), Ana Rita Martins (Art), Leonor Guise Carvalho (1st Assistant Director), Mariana Barros (Production), and Hind Kadiri (Production & Production Design).
The writer and director, Luís Barros, is a filmmaker and audiovisual creator whose work spans fiction, documentary, and institutional and cultural projects. Above all, his interest lies in exploring human relationships, social context, and emotional truth.

MOSAICO continues this path: a small-scale film, focused on performance, writing, and atmosphere, where every detail matters.

Why Are We Raising Funds?

This fundraiser will help cover essential production costs, including:
  • Location (finding a house in Lisbon to film a project is not easy!)
  • Equipment and technical support
  • Art direction and production design
  • Sound, post-production, and colour grading

MOSAICO is an independent project made with care, collaboration, and limited resources. Every contribution — no matter the amount — directly supports the making of the film and helps ensure it reaches the screen with the quality it deserves.

How You Can Help

If this story resonates with you, you can support MOSAICO by:
  • Donating to this campaign
  • Sharing it with friends and family
  • Following the project’s journey

By supporting this film, you’re not just funding a production — you’re helping bring an intimate, honest story to life.

Thank you for believing in independent cinema and in stories made from fragments that still matter.
