AJ's Fearless Fight Against Cancer

Hello family and friends,

I wanted to give you all an update on my beautiful, strong, courageous sister AJ (Anjeanette).

As most of you know she has been battling stage 4 cancer for over a year. On September 5th, we will be heading to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. On September 7th AJ will undergo an 8-hour surgery to remove tumors from her liver. She will remain in the hospital for up to 6 days and will have to stay in Phoenix for three weeks after her surgery. Our family is asking you to send your prayers and positive thoughts her way and, if you are able, donate as she will need support while she remains in Phoenix and will not be working for two months.

On March 4, 2021, my sister AJ Carlson (Anjeanette Johnson) told me that she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer; I became overcome by the potent fear of the unknown. I wondered about the road ahead and felt frustration about not knowing what the future holds. But unlike me, my sister chose to show gratitude for a life that holds many wonderful surprises and blessings, and has chosen to find joy in the journey that God has set before her. She quickly reminded me how fortunate we are to live a life with so many possibilities.

Although my sister is a deeply private person, she knows that she cannot fight this alone. That’s why I started this fund—to ease the financial burden on her and our family. Over the next several weeks, she will attend several medical appointments and undergo various lifesaving treatments and procedures. As you can imagine, these sorts of medical costs can be overwhelming. Additionally, my sister has been focused fully on treatment and life’s everyday expenses have also begun to add up. It is my wish that AJ focus her energy on getting well and fighting this wicked disease.

During this difficult time, my family and I have been filled with joy by the outpouring of love and support from so many of you. These acts of kindness have served as a power source of light during this difficult moment of our lives.
