Hi my name is Isabelle but most people know me by Issy, and if you know anything about me you would know how much I love my dog, River. River was diagnosed with IMT (Immune mediated thrombocytopenia) from a tick bite she got around 3 years ago but it didn’t have any issues until June 21st when we found blood in her mouth from biting through a plastic drainage tube. The bleeding didn’t stop so she was brought into the vet the 23rd and ran 3 blood tests and they came back that she has 0 platelets. She was given an antibiotic and a steroid and was told to come back on Wednesday the 25th. They ran a blood test again and it came back that she had 45,000 platelets (dogs should have 150,000) still better than before!
i took her in on Thursday July 3rd in the hopes that her platelets would be back to normal, we got a call hours later that they were back to 0 and she needed to be rushed to the emergency vet ASAP!!!!!!!
my mom left work and took her to the vet, where we were told that they wanted to keep here there and run test while giving her Iv fluids.
a quote for that was a minimum of $8,000.
we went against the vets wishes because we didn’t have the money for afford that and brought her home and we are giving her oral medication and monitoring her on our own.
we don’t know what’s wrong with her and why this is happening but we need to get help for her
River is 5 years old, she has barely started her life and she has been the best dog and everyone knows that.
anything, literally anything would help us pay these vet bills to be able to keep our dog alive.
