Erin Quinn Bezaire is Lorna & Gerry’s middle child. When Erin was 4 years old, she was stricken with GBS (Guillian Barre Syndrome) and has spent a majority of her life in and out of the hospital. This condition left Erin with a paralyzed stomach. Because of this, she has been tube fed 14 of her 20 years. A pump pushed a liquid diet into her intestine bypassing the stomach.
There was a period of normalacy when Erin received injections of Botox into the gut. But unfortunately this treatment was short lived as she built up an immunity to the treamtments.
Two years ago, Erin’s symptoms worsened. She is now in sever pain most of her day - everyday. She is again dependant on the tube feed nourishment and is limited from enjoying a regular life as most of us take for granted.
Erin turns 21 this month and as parents, we all want to give our children the best possibilities in life. We have discovered a stem cell treatment to improve her quality of life. This treatment will alleviate the inflammation that is the source of her pain. There has been success with others that have had similar symptoms. The hope is that with this Go Fund Me page, Erin will travel to Columbia in South America for treatments for this autoimmune condition. Unfortunately these treatments are not available in North America.
