Aja Klanfer was my 35 year old daughter. Beloved daughter of her father John and sister to Derek and Ian.
Aja lost her life to drug addiction. She overdosed on August 5th. She went into cardiac arrest which caused her brain to lose oxygen, which damaged her brain beyond hope. Her father suggested organ donation. She was kept on life support until August 15.
She passed peacefully that day, her hands being held by my dear friend Cathy and loving nephew David. I could not bear to be in there. Many family and friends were there for support. Eddie, my boyfriend was there every step of the way.
Her liver and kidney's were donated to the New England Donor Services. They were so kind and caring and thankful for her gifts of life.
I was informed on August 16th, that her left kidney gave new life to a woman in her 30's, who was on dialysis. We were very happy to hear this.
Aja was a beautiful girl, smart and artistic. She loved science, art, music and animals, especially cats! She liked to help people and loved organizing things.
She unfortunately succumbed to the world of drugs. We tried to help her and didn't get a chance to find out about some kind of help, when this happened. It pains all of us.
These funds are needed in order to have her cremated. She did not have any insurance and we live paycheck to paycheck.
Her remains will be taken to a funeral home in Brighton on Monday and they will then do the cremation. That may take up to a week or more.
We would hope to get her ashes back in a couple of weeks.
We appreciate all the love and support we have received over the past two weeks. It has been stressful and heartbreaking.
Any help would be tremendously appreciated.
Any leftover funds will be donated to animal charities or local shelters. She would have loved that. Also to, Organ Donation and Drug Addiction.
