Bring Back The Light

Hello, my name is Kim. My husband Mark and I have fallen on very hard times since COVID hit. We had just purchased a large piece of property to expand our small business and bring fresh air to our families life. However, COVID hit just 3 months later. We did not collect one dime of state or federal assistance, most often being told, we didn't qualify. We kept up the best we could on utility bills, but fell behind in our electric bills. Even after signing up for assistance, Duke Energy cut our power off, sighting they would not return power unless we pay $3800 in late charges, fee's and a new deposit(despite owning our property outright). We have bravely, proudly & sadly been living off the grid for months, almost telling no one. We were lent a generator briefly, but it has since been returned as the owner needed it for work. We do not own or have been able to purchase a generator ourselves. The nights in NC have been dropping into the low 40's and we are plain cold. So it is with the strength we still have, that we can swallow our pride and ask for help. We would just like to restore our power. We need heat and power to run the tools we need to continue working. Let us say bless all of you regardless if you can help or not. We all have been through so much these past couple of years. We must try to remember our blessings from today and the past.
