Ciao, sono Giulia, e questa è la storia di Whisky, il mio cocker spaniel di 9 anni, e la nostra lotta per ridargli la vista. Questa raccolta fondi non è per salvare una vita, ma per migliorare drasticamente la sua qualità di vita, che sta peggiorando giorno dopo giorno.

La Storia di Whisky: Un Compagno Indispensabile

Whisky è più di un cane; è la mia ombra, il mio conforto in ogni momento difficile. Ha 9 anni, ma il suo spirito è quello di un cucciolo, sempre attivo e pieno di energia. Insieme abbiamo affrontato 7 traslochi e momenti difficili, in cui lui era l'unico a restare al mio fianco, prendendosi cura di me. Adesso, è arrivato il momento che io mi prenda cura di lui.

Abbiamo vissuto due anni fantastici in Olanda, con lunghe passeggiate nei parchi che lui amava. Purtroppo, il ritorno in Italia è stato un periodo difficile per entrambi. Io ero molto giù, e proprio in quel periodo, la vista di Whisky ha iniziato a peggiorare.

La cecità di Whisky: Una Vita in Ombra

Oggi, Whisky è completamente cieco. Non reagisce più nemmeno alla luce. La diagnosi dell'oculista veterinaria, la dottoressa Bottone, è cataratta matura bilaterale.

All'inizio, complici le mie difficoltà economiche dovute al recente trasferimento e alla necessità di ricominciare da zero, mi ero illusa che Whisky si sarebbe abituato alla sua condizione e che l'operazione non fosse strettamente necessaria.

Ma la verità è che la situazione peggiora costantemente. Whisky è sempre stato un cane "speciale": usava pochissimo l'olfatto e si affidava quasi esclusivamente alla vista. Ora, anche le cose più semplici sono diventate impossibili:

* Giocare è frustrante: non vede i suoi giochi e si arrabbia finché non ci inciampa sopra.

* Quando torno a casa e lo chiamo, è spesso rivolto da tutt'altra parte, e questo mi spezza il cuore.

* Le nostre passeggiate sono limitate: dobbiamo percorrere sempre lo stesso tragitto, e anche così, sbatte contro gli ostacoli almeno dieci volte, andando in ansia e bloccandosi.

* Non posso più portarlo con me ovunque, come facevo prima. Si agita facilmente, non capendo cosa succede intorno a lui.

È per tutti questi motivi che ho preso la decisione: Whisky deve essere operato.

Il Percorso Verso la Luce: Costi e Procedura

Prima dell'intervento, Whisky dovrà sottoporsi a una serie di esami preliminari a causa di una malformazione cardiaca congenita. Questo è il percorso che dobbiamo affrontare:

* Ecografia cardiaca: Per valutare se può sopportare l'anestesia.

* Esame della retina e ecografia oculare: Per una valutazione approfondita degli occhi.

* L'operazione finale: L'intervento per rimuovere la cataratta.

Questi sono i costi stimati per permettere a Whisky di tornare a vedere:

* Analisi del sangue e urine: €135

* Ecografia cardiaca: €90 + IVA

* Retinografia : €400 + IVA + anestesia

Hi, I'm Giulia, and this is Whisky, my 9-year-old Cocker Spaniel. It's not a life-or-death situation, but it's about making his remaining years joyful and fulfilling.

Whisky's Story: An Indispensable Companion

Whisky is more than just a dog; he's my shadow, my comfort through every difficult moment. At 9, he still has the spirit of a puppy, full of energy and always active. Together, we've navigated 7 house moves and countless challenges. Whenever things got tough, he was always there, taking care of me. Now, it's my turn to take care of him.

We spent two wonderful years in the Netherlands, enjoying long walks in the parks he loved so much. Unfortunately, our return to Italy was a tough period for both of us. I was very down, and it was during that time that Whisky's eyesight began to deteriorate.

Whisky's Blindness: A Life in the Shadows

Today, Whisky is completely blind. He doesn't even react to light anymore. The veterinary ophthalmologist, Dr. Bottone, diagnosed him with bilateral mature cataracts.

Initially, given my financial struggles from recently moving and having to start over, I convinced myself that Whisky would adapt to his condition and that surgery wasn't strictly necessary.

But the truth is, the situation is constantly getting worse. Whisky has always been a "special" dog; he hardly ever used his nose and relied almost entirely on his sight. Now, even the simplest things have become impossible for him:

* Playing is frustrating: he can't see his toys and gets angry until he trips over them.

* When I come home and call him, he's often facing a completely different direction, and it breaks my heart.

* Our walks are limited: we have to follow the same route every time, and even then, he bumps into obstacles at least ten times, becoming anxious and freezing up.

* I can no longer take him with me everywhere, as I used to. He easily gets agitated, not understanding what's happening around him.

For all these reasons, I've made the decision: Whisky needs surgery.

The Path to Light: Costs and Procedure

Before the surgery, Whisky needs to undergo a series of preliminary tests due to a congenital heart malformation. This is the path we need to follow:

* Cardiac ultrasound: To assess if he can tolerate anesthesia.

* Retinal exam and ocular ultrasound: For a thorough evaluation of his eyes.

* The final operation: The surgery to remove the cataracts.
