Aiuta un gatto di colonia. Help a colony cat!

Sabato 4 gennaio uno dei nostri gatti della colonia di Selargius è stato investito da un'auto. Un volontario che parcheggiava per caso nei pressi della colonia e lo ha visto trascinare le zampe posteriori e ha chiamato i responsabili della colonia. I responsabili sono arrivati​ ma prima che potessero prenderlo, il giovane gatto è riuscito a saltare nel cofano di un'auto per nascondersi. I volontari hanno iniziato a suonare i campanelli delle abitazioni circostanti per trovare il proprietario dell'auto, e miracolosamente il proprietario è stato trovato e abbiamo potuto aprire l'auto e portarlo dal veterinario d'urgenza (Clinica Karel).

Il gatto si chiama Cappuccino (il soprannome è Lucky, fortunato in inglese... anche se è sicuramente una sfortuna che sia stato investito da un'auto, è una fortuna che un volontario lo abbia visto per caso e che abbiamo trovato il proprietario dell'auto) ha il bacino fratturato (frantumato), frattura del femore e dell'uretra. Le prime 48 ore furono le più critiche. Se non riuscisse a urinare da solo, l’uretra verrebbe considerata troppo danneggiata e gli verrebbe consigliata l’eutanasia. Cappuccino ha effettivamente urinato, un altro segno che questo piccolo combattente è davvero fortunato.

Successivamente, abbiamo aspettato l'intervento del veterinario ortopedico. Con un intervento chirurgico immediato e una terapia di riabilitazione successiva, sarà in grado di camminare di nuovo. Questo è un vero sollievo. Il pensiero di lui che vive la sua vita da paraplegico era difficile da accettare sia emotivamente che logisticamente (è impossibile toccarlo).

Ma è qui che abbiamo bisogno del tuo aiuto. Cappuccino ha bisogno di un intervento chirurgico immediato per poter iniziare il suo recupero. Anche se la clinica ci ha concesso uno sconto, il conto è ancora di 2000 euro per coprire l'intervento, la visita d'urgenza e la degenza in clinica (fondamentale perché gli somministrano antidolorifici e possono tenerlo immobilizzato).

Per favore aiutaci ad aiutare Cappuccino, perché nessuna creatura vivente dovrebbe essere dimenticata quando c'è speranza!

On Saturday, January 4, one of our colony cats in Selargius, Sardinia was hit by a car. A volunteer happened to park near the colony and saw him dragging his back legs and called for help. The main colony volunteers arrived but before they could catch him, the young cat managed to jump inside the hood of a car to hide. Volunteers started ringing doorbells to find the car's owner, and another miracle: the owner was found and we were able to open the car and take him to the emergency vet.

The cat, named Lucky Cappuccino (although it's certainly unlucky that he was hit by a car, it is extremely lucky that a volunteer happened to see him and that we found the car's owner) has trauma to his urethra, a broken pelvis and leg. The first 48 hours were most critical. If he could not urinate on his own, the urethra would be considered too damaged and euthanasia would be recommended. Lucky C did in fact urinate, another sign this little fighter is indeed lucky.

Next, we waited for the orthopedic vet to weigh in. With an immediate surgery and rehab therapy after, he WILL be able to walk again. This is such a relief because Lucky C is a wild boy, and the thought of him living his life as a paraplegic was hard to accept both emotionally and logistically (he's impossible to touch).

But that's where we need your help. Lucky C needs surgery immediately so he can start his recovery. Although the clinic has given us a discount, the bill is still at 2000 euros to cover the surgery, emergency visit, and his stay at the clinic (critical, as they administer pain meds and can keep him immobilized).
