Sono presidente della associazione Cultura è Libertà, una campagna per la Palestina, nata a Roma nel 2013. Nostro obiettivo è la promozione della cultura palestinese in Italia e la realizzazione di progetti di giovani in Palestina. Andavo a Gaza spesso per incontrare le persone amiche, per verificare l'andamento dei progetti, anche di carattere musicale, come le borse di studio al Conservatorio Nazionale di musica Edward Said. Ho incontrato di nuovo Nashwa una giovane architetta archeologa che avevo conosciuta a Roma dove frequentava un seminario all' ICCROM (beni culturali). L'ho incontrata di nuovo a Gaza, mentre dirigeva un cantiere per il restauro di un antico edificio, trasformato in un centro con biblioteca per bambini/e. Siamo diventate amiche e ho conosciuto la sua grande famiglia. Insieme siamo andate nel loro agrumeto, bellissimo e abbiamo raccolto decine di arance e clementine! Nel 2021 è nato il suo piccolo. Mi ha fatto conoscere e amare molte bellezze archeologiche di Gaza. Nella attuale distruzione della guerra condotta da Israele, la loro casa e il loro agrumeto non esistono più. Hanno vissuto e vivono in una tenda, prima a Rafah, oggi a Deir El Balah. La vita è estremamente dura e difficile. Come migliaia di abitanti vuole uscire da Gaza e raggiungere l'Egitto. Adesso il passaggio è chiuso, dovrà riaprire, con costi per uscire verso l'Egitto, molto alti. Ma adesso anche per la vita quotidiana servono soldi. I prezzi dei beni di prima necessità sono triplicati o quadruplicati. Vogliamo aiutarla? Adesso a sopravvivere e, quando il valico aprirà, ad uscire, per ricominciare a vivere, con il suo bel bambino e suo marito e, le auguriamo, anche con le sue sorelle.

I am president of the Cultura è Libertà association, a campaign for Palestine, founded in Rome in 2013. Our objective is the promotion of Palestinian culture in Italy and the realization of youth projects in Palestine. I often went to Gaza to meet friends, to check on the progress of projects, even of a musical nature, such as the scholarships at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music. I met Nashwa again, a young architect archaeologist who I had met in Rome where she was attending a seminar at ICCROM (cultural heritage). I met her again in Gaza, while she was managing a construction site for the restoration of an ancient building, transformed into a center with a library for children. We became friends and I met her large family. Together we went to their beautiful citrus grove and picked dozens of oranges and clementines! Her baby was born in 2021. She made me know and love many archaeological beauties of Gaza. In the current destruction of Israel's war, their home and citrus grove no longer exist. They lived and live in a tent, first in Rafah, today in Deir El Balah. Life is extremely hard and difficult. Like thousands of inhabitants she would like to leave Gaza and reach Egypt. Now the passage is closed, it will have to reopen, with very high costs for exiting towards Egypt. But now even for daily life you need money. The prices of basic goods have tripled or quadrupled. Do we want to help her? Now to survive and, when the crossing opens, to go out, to start living again, with her beautiful child, her husband and, we hope, also with her sisters.
