Dopo la diagnosi di tumore al seno che riduce in maniera significativa la sua deambulazione, Eliana è costretta a vendere la propria casa a causa delle barriere architettoniche. Il 20 ottobre Budrio, in provincia di Bologna, viene colpita da un’alluvione ed Eliana perde tutti i propri effetti personali che aveva riposto nel garage interrato della nuova abitazione. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, which has severely affected her mobility, Eliana was forced to sell her home due to the architectural barriers. Then, on October 20th, disaster struck. Budrio, near Bologna, was hit by a devastating flood, and Eliana lost everything she owned—her personal belongings were all stored in the underground garage of her new house. Premessa:

Circa un anno fa, è stato diagnosticato a mia madre Eliana un tumore al seno metastatico che le ha provocato una semi paresi degli arti inferiori e che l’ha costretta a vendere la sua casa piena di barriere architettoniche al quarto piano senza ascensore, per un piccolo appartamento adatto a persone a ridotta mobilità.

L’alluvione:

Al momento del trasloco tutti i suoi effetti personali sono stati riposti nel garage interrato della nuova abitazione, ma nella notte tra il 19 e il 20 ottobre 2024 il vicino torrente Idice ha esondato, allagando Budrio (in provincia di Bologna) e sommergendo per un metro e mezzo i garage del condominio di acqua e fango. Delle cose di mia madre non si è salvato quasi nulla, dei 70 scatoloni, appena una decina non sono stati raggiunti dal fango e mamma ha perso praticamente tutto ciò che possedeva.

Se l’acquisto procederà per il meglio, il prossimo luglio mia madre entrerà nel suo nuovo appartamento, senza però avere nulla da metterci dentro.

La raccolta fondi:

Questa raccolta fondi ha l’obiettivo di aiutare mia madre a dotarsi dell’essenziale per vivere nella nuova casa e, in particolare, i fondi verranno impiegati per l’acquisto di una struttura letto e un materasso, una lavatrice, un armadio, un tavolo con sedie, un divano e alcuni accessori utili a facilitare la vita di una persona a mobilità ridotta.

Introduction:

About a year ago, my mother Eliana was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, which left her with partial paralysis in her lower limbs. As a result, she had to sell her home, which was full of architectural barriers and located on the fourth floor of a building without an elevator, in order to move into a smaller apartment suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The flood:

At the time of the move, all of her personal belongings were stored in the underground garage of her new building. However, on the night of October 19th-20th, the nearby Idice River overflowed, flooding the town of Budrio (near Bologna) and submerging the garage in over a meter and a half of water and mud. Sadly, almost all of my mother’s belongings were destroyed: out of about 70 boxes, only 10 escaped the damage and my mom lost nearly everything she owned.

If the purchase goes through, next July she will finally move into her new apartment—but with nothing to fill it.

The fundraiser:

This fundraiser aims to help my mother Eliana rebuild the essentials for her new home. The funds will go towards purchasing a bed and a mattress, a washing machine, a dining table and chairs, a wardrobe, a sofa, and other items that will help make her new living space more accessible.
