Hi, my name is Aisha. I’m 14 years old and in year 9 at Mansfield State High School. I’m saving up for a history and literature school trip to the UK and Ireland for next year April, visiting the birthplace of the world’s greatest stories and discovering their origins.
As you would know, high school can be… a lot of work. Writing is like my sanctuary. I’m both a writer and reader, and am currently working on a book, and when school work becomes too stressful, even just thinking about the story line helps take the weight off tasks. Writing is part of who I am, and this trip would mean the world to me. Getting to travel to new places, giving me new perspectives that I could weave into my stories and learning about the history of different writers and destinations, expanding my knowledge, and no doubt giving me new inspiration.
I will leave around April next year. I would be visiting the British Museum, Globe Theatre, Harry Potter Studios, West End Theatre, Windsor Castle, Oxford University walking tour, Shakespeare’s and New Place, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Blue Badged Robin Hood Themed Walk, Titanic Experience (in Belfast), Giant’s Causeway, Walking Tour of Derry, Cliff of Mother, GPO Museum, Kilmainham Gaol, Books of Kells and Trinity College Tour and a viking and medieval experience.
To show my appreciation for your support, I will document my experience in a story that will be shared 4 months after I return. You can also expect regular updates on how the fundraising is going, and every time I get ideas to expand on my story.
The trip is $10,000 in total, however my parents are helping by giving a dollar for every dollar I receive. I still need to raise $3,500 more to make the trip. For 6 months I worked at a bakery, waking up at 4am on some days. I just need some extra help for this last leg.
I would be eternally grateful if you could support me, even in the smallest way. This would be an experience I’d remember for the rest of my life, and I really am hoping I get to go. Any donation would be like a lifeline.
