Aisha's battle with Transverse Myelitis and paralysis

Hi my name is Aisha and I am fundraising for my family to maintain our household expenses and medical expenses that my insurance will not cover. I'm a 43 year old single mother of twins who, since March 19, 2023, has been battling a rare neurological condition called Transverse Myelitis-an inflammation of the spinal cord which blocks nerve impulses and results in a degree of paralysis.
This condition has rendered me paralyzed from the chest down (quadriplegic). I currently have the use of my arms and limited use of my left hand (I'm right handed). Since returning home from the hospital, my teenage children have taken on the responsibility as my full time caregivers.
My recovery time is uncertain, and though I have faith that I will come out of this condition, it will be a long road ahead.
It has been 2 years this March that I have been paralyzed. Physical and occupational therapy are the only treatment for my condition. Medical insurance only allows so many visits per year so I'm not getting as much therapy as I need.
Being a self-employed Cosmetologist, this has left me without income since March 19 2023. My children are doing their best to maintain our household expenses and my medical needs but there is only so much they can do. I've been trying to get approved social security disability benefits since May 2023, but it has been a long and slow process. Due to the condition of the government I'm not sure what will happen with my claim. This has left us in a serious financial situation and I'm so scared that we will loose our home.
We are kindly asking for support in my recovery and maintaining my our quality of life and being able to stay in our home. All donations, no matter how small, will go towards my medical expenses, rent and monthly bills. We are barely keeping things current and were denied assistance from the state.
I am deeply thankful for all the support and empathy we have received. God bless you all.
