Hi, my name is Peggy Colborn, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart during one of the most difficult times in our lives.

My husband of 34 years, Barney Colborn, is an Air Force veteran who has Parkinson’s disease. We are both in our 70s and had just begun what we hoped would be a peaceful and secure retirement together.

Like so many, we worked hard our entire lives, saved what we could, and put everything we had into a home we believed would be ours for the rest of our lives.

Then everything changed.

Through no fault of our own, the home we had been working so hard to own has suddenly been taken from us. Now we are facing the unthinkable — we have less than 90 days to leave our home, with no savings left and no clear understanding of how this happened. We have sold most of our belongings already but the proceeds will still not be enough to see us through.

The stress of this situation has been especially hard on Barney. His Parkinson’s has worsened, just as his doctors feared it might under this extreme stress. Watching the person you love struggle while also trying to figure out where you will live is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

We have always done our best to live responsibly — paying our bills, raising our children, and trying to do everything the right way. We never imagined that in our senior years we would find ourselves in this position.

We are hoping to raise $25,000 to help us through this crisis, including:

Securing safe and stable housing

Covering moving expenses

Managing basic living costs during this transition

Ensuring Barney can continue receiving the care he needs
