Airedale Football Club recover from fire damage

Hi my name is Kendall Fountain, Club Secretary, Coach, Groundsman and all rounder at Airedale Football Club along with my partner Jimmy Green (chairman and all of the above too.)

Unfortunately, today (23/03/2023) we were subjected to what we believe to be an arson attack at our home ground. The damage has been catastrophic. The fire was started via our hired Portaloo (FastLoo) which to begin with is somebody elses livelihood. It then took hold of one of our storage containers causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. This football club runs as a facility for young children (5-16) to enjoy what we call the beautiful game.

A lot of equipment was destroyed in the fire including a kitchen facility that provides essential fund raising for the club - meaning we can keep our subscription fees one of the lowest in the area to our knowledge. This we do so that more children in our area have the same access to grassroots football as anyone else.

Needless to say, we are devastated. All we endeavour to do is give kids in the local community the opportunity to learn and have fun.

Every single person at the club is a volunteer and we aren’t lucky enough to have a billionaire owner who can replace everything that has been ruined by this attack.

We do what we do in a community that hasn’t got the greatest reputation for that reason alone. No matter the heartache this has caused, we still feel that Airedale and our beloved club, deserves to be on the map for the right reasons for a change. So now we turn to you, our community and ask for any help that you’re able to give to rebuild and repair the damage caused.
