Hi. My name is Mike and I am an affordable housing activist. My efforts are centered on a building material called non autoclaved aerated concrete (NAAC), or aircrete. Aircrete has been around 80 years but wasn't developed properly. With some help, we can change that.
I need $10,000 to fund a new type of aircrete mixer I designed: lightweight, low tech, and cheap. I used 1/8" steel instead of industry standard 1/4" and it worked. More good cheap equipment like this needs to be designed and built.
The other way we can build with aircrete is with existing mobile production equipment. They already use this equipment to pour aircrete roofs on malls and other industrial jobsites, we just need to bring the mixer/pumpers to the residential homesite where they can pour an aircrete house in a couple of hours. Foundation, floor, walls, roof. With reinforcing steel of course and part of an IBC approved building system. A well insulated, fireproof, cellular concrete house.
There is a strong equity component to this material, due to how cheap the raw materials are. I believe once people are informed about this stuff it will be the first time that rich and poor people will be living in the same kind of house.
