Technical Sergeant Alec Tabor, 29, was driving to work at Whiteman AFB on the morning on November 2, 2022, when he was involved in an early-morning car wreck. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Alec has been in a coma since the wreck, in which he sustained traumatic injuries to his face, back, legs, and more. He may have a moderate brain injury. Alec is on a ventilator with a guarded prognosis and has undergone several surgeries to repair broken bones. The wait for him to be able to wake up has been excruciating, particularly for his new wife - my sister, Abby.
Just two weeks before his accident, Alec married Abby, his sweetheart and friend of six years, in an intimate, family-only ceremony. The two planned to hold a larger party in 2023 and were excited to have booked their venue, caterer, and music. Together, they lived with their pets at their home in Independence, which Alec proudly purchased for them earlier this year. He was up for another promotion in the Air Force at the time of the wreck. Their life together had only just begun.
Since the crash, Abby has been by Alec's side in the hospital daily, missing work days or working remotely from his ICU room. As you can imagine, it has taken a mental toll on her and the rest of his loved ones.
Alec and Abby need funding to help pay essential bills, cover costs associated with missing work days, potential modifications to their home, pet care while Abby is with Alec in the hospital, travel expenses, and more. Alec's road to recovery is long and uncertain, and your generosity will help Abby care for him and herself.
