Air for Ukraine

What is happening in Ukraine, is absolutely as someone who grew up there. I can’t call it a crisis because it sounds self-inflected.

Just before the Russian invasion on February 24th, 2022, Ukraine was a democratic country in the middle

of Europe. A country where many were launching creative and innovative businesses in art, fashion, and technology. People like my parents and my sister were happily living in their homes making plans for the future. Now my father is armed and protecting Dnipro. My mother and sister respond to air raid sirens by going underground.

I am very proud to be Ukrainian. My husband, Dr. Sudhir Gadh and daughter, Diana (2 North) travelled together with me to Ukraine every summer for the last 5 years.

It breaks my heart to watch the conditions women are giving birth at the moment. If they even get to that point. A hospital was thermobarically bombed yesterday. Kids have to sleep for days underground, many of them are dehydrated. malnourished, scared. Many kids have been injured or wounded.

Razom for Ukraine is a trusted non profit organization that has been helping Ukraine for many years. On their website they regularly update information on where donations are spent.

I hope we as Brick Community can help families in Ukraine to overcome this disaster as soon as possible.

Every morning now I am reminded of how lucky we are to have food on our kids plates, to wake up in a warm bed, to be able to take our kids to the playground on a sunny day and how fragile it can become in one New York minute.
