Hi, I'm Jay, a student paramedic working and studying in the Lake District. Everyday I witness how vital our emergency services are, especially in remote areas where road access is limited, hospitals are hours away and time is critical. Our air ambulances reduce response and transfer times to minutes allowing advanced care to be provided roadside. I can confidently say that some of my patients would not be alive today without them.

This is why I am running the Lakeland 100 in July 2026, a 105 mile ultramarathon through the exact area where them and I work. We are lucky enough to have 2 incredible charities in the lakes - North West Air Ambulance Charity and Great North Air Ambulance Service for which the funds raised will be split evenly. July is a while away, so to train for this race I am also running Lakes in a Day 50 miler, Ullswater Challenge 24 miler, Bowland Ultra 45 miler, Lakes Traverse 62 miler and Scafell Sky Ultra 37 miler.

Our air ambulance charities receive no funding from the government and yet act as a fully functional emergency service working alongside the NHS - so every penny counts.
