Khaleesi is just one year old, and she has a serious heart defect called a PDA. This means a small vessel in her heart that should have closed at birth is still open, and it is putting too much pressure on the left side of her heart. Although she has not yet gone into heart failure, she will not survive without treatment.
The only effective treatment is to close this vessel.
There are two ways to do this:
• A minimally invasive procedure using a small device placed through an artery in the leg.
• A more invasive surgery that opens the chest to tie off the vessel.
Both options are expensive, but life-saving.
The good news is that once Khaleesi has this surgery, she is expected to live a normal, active and healthy life.
We urgently need to raise funds so this one-year-old little girl can get the life-saving surgery she needs.
