AIM is the first 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area that provides integrative medicine services to low-income and terminally ill patients regardless of ability to pay.
Integrative medicine combines conventional medical care with complementary medicine. Its goal is to improve patient care, and to address not only biological, but also psychological, social and spiritual aspects of health and illness. Integrative medicine treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease.
The end of 2016 brought number of new projects that will take full affect in 2017.
1) Breast Cancer Center Grant to provide free massage, Reiki, and acupuncture to 40 women with mestastatic breast cancer
2) Partnership with ProCure Art to start weekly healing arts classes for patients with cancer

3) Partnering with Virginia University of Oriental Medicine to have acupuncture students join integrative team to provide free treatments to patients at Bread for the City.
