My mom, Aimee, has always been a glittery, caring person; the type of person who lights up every room she walks into and making the world feel a little brighter. She has always been the one who shows up for others, whether it’s offering a meal, a ride, a listening ear, or glitter to cheer you up. Now she’s facing something no one can face alone: a cancer diagnosis that has completely changed her life in a matter of moments.

She is facing surgery and ongoing treatment, and while she’s doing her best to stay positive, the reality is overwhelming. Medical bills are stacking up quickly, and on top of that, she’s struggling to cover rent and basic living expenses due to the cost of treatment.

She just started a new job as a preschool teacher but because she’s so new, she hasn’t built up enough sick leave to be paid while she’s recovering from surgery. This means she may be out of work for at least a month with no income, all while trying to heal and cope with the weight of everything ahead.
