Parenting Worked!
Parenting is a big experiment - and we took some risks - that we are so thankful are paying off - We are very proud of Aimee's wide and varied skills, and well-rounded nature. We've been able to help Aimee focus on her gifts, and she's already produced some great motion graphics projects.
Financial Triage
As a family we have experienced a financial "crash" about 5 years ago that has taken quite some time to recover from. We blame no one but ourselves for this. Thankfully, we're on the road to recovery, but it just takes time
College? What? At 16?
But on the parenting front, it seems we've done a couple of things right, and our homeschooled 15.5 year old graphic artist received her California State High School Diploma in the fall of 2014! And then, she was invited to start E'xpression Digital Arts College in January of this year.
Embracing the Challenge!
She did, and she LOVES it, and is really shining, as the school's youngest student ever. We've never seen her study so diligently. It is incredible to see a young heart, aligned with her passions, apply herself so wholeheartedly.
...That Tuition Thing
Unfortunately, with our less than stellar financial history, we were not ready for the college tuition burden.. Oops...
As a result of some of our financial challenges in prior years, we do not qualify for traditional means of student loans, and even the school's own scholarship programs are based on the same metrics.
The school started Aimee in January, but our grace has run out, and we need to begin making the $3,000 per month payments against tuition, or we have to remove Aimee from the program.
