Aileen Lerch: two words that have inspired equal parts joy, terror, love, fear, uncertainty, and dare I say it, uncontrollable lust in all of our hearts.
What better way to celebrate our beloved and inimitable campus celebrity than by plastering her name in all caps on a plane-towed advertising banner?
We know there are many, many worthy causes that are asking for your support and money in these troubled times--it is only fitting then that this particular endeavor, with its inspiring albeit perplexing message of unity, should jump to the top of your donations list. Please help us hit our fundraising target and spread this message of hope!
FAQs:
Q: Does Aileen know this is happening?
A: No! It is a surprise, so please keep it that way! She will not be able to believe her eyes :)
Q: Why "AILEEN LERCH"?
A: There is no underlying meaning. The message is simply the recognition of the message itself. Although initially bootstrapped by Aileen's cult celebrity status, the representation has now eclipsed its reference: it’s less about her as a person than about the resonance of the name as an entity unto itself, propagated (now for the first time, aerially!) through Stanford’s alumni body's collective consciousness.
Q: When will the flyover occur?
A: 4:30pm-6:30pm (during the tailgate). FAA rules for college football games prohibit aerial traffic within three miles of a stadium an hour before, during, or after a game.
Q: Who is doing the flying?
A: FlySigns.com
Q: How much does this frivolous prank cost?
A: $1,750 + pilot tip. Tipping heavy to avoid questions.
