Hello, I'm Ailbhe, a trans woman from Ireland who is currently waiting for surgery. Some people may know me from my time in college, and specifically with an anime convention that I was pretty involved in.

Right now, the waiting list for bottom surgery for people like me is sitting at 5+ years within the HSE. This is too long and if I can go with the private route, I will. The downside of that is that the upfront cost of it is €10,700 and that doesn't include travel and accommodation as the surgery would most likely be in Spain.

I am currently a social worker based in the West of Ireland and so while I can save a little bit, it isn't much. I am proud of the steps I have made with my transition but surgery is the biggest by far to help with my own dysphoria.

I don't expect to be fully funded anytime soon but I will put it there for anyone who may want to help as I am not in a position to refuse it. Transition has saved my life, and I would like to continue to improve it. This is the easiest way to do so.
