Hello, My name is Jane. I am the proud mama of Miss Aila the Frenchie cross pug.
Aila has developed quite a few health issues - cataracts, arthritis and nerve damage in her spine (degenerative myelopathy). Unfortunately, they have all hit at once and vet bills are piling up.
Aila has been seeing Melbourne eye Vet, eye specialists and needs cataract surgery as she is fully blind. Her retina has also detached in left eye. They have quoted $5k per eye. At this stage it looks like we will only be able to bring back sight to her right eye. She is booked in to go back to the eye specialst at the start of July.
Last Friday she went under anaesthetic in order to have the following tests done- ERG, ultrasound and laser retinopexy.
She takes two different eye drops daily to help keep inflammation down and keep her comfortable.
She is also booked in with Lort Smith for further testing on her spine. She will most likely need a wheelchair when her back legs fully paralyse. She is receiving weekly injections that are really helping with her mobility and keeping her comfortable for the time being.
Aila still acts like a puppy and I know she has so much life left in her and it would truly mean the world to me if she could see again.
Aila's favourite thing to do is play fetch with her ball and it would just be so incredible to be able to play fetch with her again. I know she can still go off smell but I will do anything and everything I can to try to get her to be able to see again!
Thank you for your love and support.
Lots of love, Jane and Aila x @janeysdoglife
