Ailani’s Gig Car Fund
Donation protected
hi all, so two weeks ago i got into a pretty bad car wreck. i rolled my car and it will cost more to fix it than the car is worth. after the accident, i was mistreated by police officers and hospital staff…..and most importantly i just feel failed by the system. i don’t want to shine too much light on that because i am so grateful to be fine. i am so grateful that i get to wake up and soak in each day. it’s hard to make this post, because it’s not comfortable for me to ask anything of my followers, friends, and family. i recently moved back from durango and have been trying to get gigs again to make a living. i also have a part-time job to make up the difference that music doesn’t provide. this car was my primary vehicle, and most importantly what got me to my gigs and home. i have some shows coming up and i am in need of decent transportation soon. i am saving all i can for the time being, but at this rate it’ll take me awhile to get where i need to be. if you could donate to my gofund me, that would be deeply appreciated. even if we don’t reach my goal, any money i can put away to getting a car can help me take the next steps i need to continue working. if you can’t donate, sharing my post and link is also deeply appreciated. thank you all for your constant support with my music. thank you for taking the time to read this as well. ❤️
[My little essay below of what happened with the car crash]
i was driving home from durango. i was on the highway between pagosa springs and chama. i had cruise control on, my glasses, and was on high alert for deer or elk. next thing i know, a truck with blinding LED lights (maybe their high beams on) completely obstructed my view of the road. there was a curve on the road, and i knew i was going off the shoulder a bit just to be safe since i could not see oncoming traffic. i hit a pothole along the edge of the road. it threw off the balance of my whole vehicle, and i swerved away from the shoulder. before i knew it, my tires were screeching, my car tilting toward oncoming traffic. i quickly swerved back towards the shoulder and felt my car tilt the opposite way. i remember running over grass. it was all happening so fast. next thing i knew, i was rolling. my car landed upright, and the first thing i checked was my body. i got out of the car and checked again. i had so much adrenaline running through my system that i couldn’t tell if anything hurt. i just saw blood in random areas of my body with no distinguished starting point. i landed down a steep hill. i hiked up the hill and looked around for help. i heard shouting from my left side. the bystanders were three men and two women. one of the men wrapped me into a giant bear hug as soon as i walked up to him, which i needed. the two women were nurses, so they cleaned up my cuts and bandaged them up. next thing i knew, i was sitting in their car wrapped in a blanket waiting to get loaded up into an ambulance. i am so blessed to be okay, besides cuts from the glass, a sprained wrist, muscle straining in my neck, and a concussion. i am so lucky. the bystanders and paramedics that took me in the ambulance spent much needed time checking in on me emotionally. the police did nothing but interrogate me and yell at me for my “illegible handwriting” and “careless driving”. the hospital employees treated me kindly until the officers told them i was a “careless driver”. they refused to answer any of my questions. they then told me that they had to discharge me. they handed me my paperwork and my phone. i asked where the lobby was, and they pointed me to a door that i exited only to find a dark empty parking lot. luckily, my grandma and trishelle were 5 minutes away from me. otherwise, i would’ve been left out there with nowhere to go in the middle of the night. weird night. i feel blessed.
