Dear Aiko Fushida’s friends and supporters,
Last Saturday morning, October 24th, our beloved friend Aiko Fushida journeyed to heaven. After battling with cancer for 16 months, Aiko took her last breath in the comfort of her home in Belmont. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Yasu, son, Kai, and several close friends. We take solace in knowing that Aiko is no longer in pain and that she has reunited with her mother and father in heaven.
A private, intimate service will be held on October 29th in Belmont, California. Due to COVID restrictions, the funeral house can only accommodate less than one dozen family members and close friends. Aiko would have wanted all of you to join this celebration of her life. We welcome and appreciate everyone sending Aiko private prayers and heartfelt thoughts. Post-COVID, there will be a formal celebration for Aiko, and we will invite everyone. The customary gesture of Okou (burning incense) or sending flowers is also complicated during COVID, so instead, we have a special request.
During Aiko’s treatment, the Fushida-Nishida family incurred substantial medical bills not covered by their insurance. Therefore, we would like your help to support a Go-Fund-Me campaign to ease these medical expenses and appreciate any contribution you may make.
I was privileged to meet Aiko through the Silicon Valley Japanese community more than 20 years ago. During this time, we became close friends and neighbors, raising our sons together. We shared so many beautiful memories, just as I’m sure you have as well. Aiko has been a beaming light in everyone’s life. Her warm smiles, laughter and kindness will forever remain in all of our hearts and memories.
On behalf of my family and me, we send our deepest condolences to the Fushida-Nishida family.

節田安伊子さんのご友人・サポーターの皆様へ
先週土曜日10月24日早朝、安伊子さんは、天国へと旅立たれました。約1年半のガン闘病生活の後、最愛の夫、一人息子、親友達に囲まれ、ベルモントのご自宅での安らかな旅立ちでした。今は痛みや苦しみから解放され、お父様・お母様と共に安らかに過ごされていることでしょう。
葬儀は、10月29日午前中にベルモント市にて予定されておりますが、コロナ対策でサンマテオ・カウンティ規則の人数制限があり、慎ましい親族だけのものとなります。本来であれば、皆様にお集まりいただき、安伊子さんとの最後のお別れをして頂くべきところですが、それぞれで安伊子さんを偲んで静かにお祈りいただくよう、お願いいたします。
お香典やお花もいただけないのですが、その代わり、皆様にお願いがございます。
病との闘いの間、健康保険でカバーされなかった新薬代・検査費用・医療費の請求が、今現在で10万ドル近くに上っています。皆様のご支援により、少しでもご遺族の負担を減らせればと思い、こちらのファンド・キャンペーンを立ち上げました。お気持ちだけでも、安伊子さんメモリアルファンドにご支援頂けると嬉しいです。
私は、安伊子さんとは、20年以上のシリコンバレー日本人コミュニティーの先輩として、そしてご近所ママ友として、沢山の時間を一緒に過ごさせて頂くことができ、本当に幸せでした。何処にいてもどんな時にも「光」のような人でした。前向きで常に笑顔でパワフルで。今でも安伊子さんと近所で立ち話をしながら、大声で一緒にまた笑えるような気がしてなりません。安伊子さんの冥福とご遺族の安寧を心から願ってやみません。
