AIDS Crisis ‘White Party’ Corrective, Help us Support: US Frontline LGBTQ+ Activists from the 70s.

[cloud] collective is launching a fundraiser to help support two beneficiary LGBTQ+ activists, who contributed to years of fundraising throughout the AIDS crisis. We want to create a corrective fund for the concept creators of the ‘white party’ and life long LGBTQ+ activists - but we need your help to make it happen.

Our Mission at a glance

Who we are? [cloud] is an international art collective committed to championing the overlooked. Our aim is to bring visibility to those who struggle to be seen.

What we're doing? Launching a fundraiser for two key American LGBTQ+ activists, who dedicated their lives to raising awareness and fundraising for the community during the AIDS crisis.

Why it matters: Because we want to honour the legacy of the original ‘white party’ and LGBTQ+ activists, who are in need, and our community has the power to correct this.

How you can help: Donate today to help raise vital funds for urgent medical care.

The Full Story
What exactly are we trying to do?
We are creating a fundraiser in honor of two beneficiaries, who desperately need funding to cover the expense of staggering healthcare bills. One of our beneficiaries was a key contributor to the conceptual idea and artistic design of the original White Party: a fundraiser held consecutively for over 25 years in Miami in support of people with AIDS and their families, which developed into an international staple of gay culture and helped raise millions of dollars. He also went on to create the poster and billboard art for the first AIDS fundraiser in San Francisco.

Our second beneficiary was one of the "Gay Think" Academic Conference organisers, whose efforts were likely to be the first of its kind on the West Coast. He was a strategic supporter of the first gay rights ordinance in Long Beach and hosted an early LGBTQ+ Newsmagazine cable show that aired in the Los Angeles market. These are just a few examples of their combined activism pursuits to aid the LGBTQ+ community’s fight for enlightenment and resistance against prejudice. They are in need now, and we are asking you to help them and say thank you for their outstanding efforts.

What are our motivations for doing this?
At [cloud] we are passionate about raising awareness for the overlooked and underrepresented. Through this campaign we want to advocate and raise awareness of the history associated with the original ‘white party’ and LGBTQ+ activism during the AIDS crisis. We believe it is crucial for us to honour our beneficiaries and their work over the decades and we believe our network and the LGBTQ+ community will want to come together to celebrate their legacy. We also acknowledge how financially challenging it can be to be a working artist, dedicating your life to the creative industry alongside activism and hope this fundraiser can elevate some of this burden for our beneficiaries.

Why does this campaign matter?
This is not just about fundraising. This is about acknowledgement, awareness and solidarity. By supporting this campaign you are not only helping provide much needed medical care but you are recognising and honouring the dedication of our beneficiaries in their efforts to create better futures for the present queer community.

What will the money be spent on?
All monies raised through this campaign will go directly to the two US based beneficiary LGBTQ+ activists/artists, to pay for urgent medical care.
