Let's Go [to a better home] Buffalo!

We are a couple caught up in what can commonly be referred to as a "slum-lord" situation; avoiding repairs, not screening other tenants and allowing such bad actors to disturb peace and safety, leveraging water supply against past due rent, and withholding full reception/consideration/respect dependent on mild-to-moderate ethnocentrism. Unfortunately, these are only the mainline offenses.

I'm now applied and at the front of a list for the local roofers union; being laid off since the end of November, driving DoorDash while having ~60 Indeed applications in the air since, and turned down for three of the only five interviews produced only ever weeks ago previous to the aforementioned, recent opportunity.

She had been laid off some time ago; unfairly, because of both a migraine disorder and a couple of whistles blown. Thrift sales (Poshmark) run by her provide a trickle while we work into circumstances that provide better 'coverages.'

We are typically boxed into the "helper" archetypes; now, the helpers need help as we all do sometimes. We are burdened with catching up to expenses both our fault(s) and not, effectively pay our way out of this scene, pay into creating our own space elsewhere, still eat decently, afford reasonable self-care/OTC goods, keep up on the most basic of utilities, and though having legal minds in the family, the -at this point only- potential expenses may still occur in that context.

We just need a hand, albeit more than one, as many that will give; but not a handout. We earned our stripes, we earn our keep; just, got stuck beyond ends-meet.

Give what you can, as you can. Sharing is caring, and we could sure use what surplus there can be.
