I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for an elderly couple who lost their home in the Altadena fire. This devastating event has uprooted their lives, and the loss is unimaginable. This couple/my parents, have already faced personal tragedy with the passing of other family members this past year, now find themselves without a place to call home. The fire claimed not only their house but years of memories and hard work.
Altadena has always been a special place to us, including my half-brother who also called that house home at one time. My parents worked tirelessly to build a life there, and my mother had recently made renovations to celebrate her 70th birthday. Tragically, the house burned down the day before her birthday, which was meant to mark this milestone. To make matters worse, they couldn’t retrieve their beloved cat, Luna, before the fire. We’re still holding out hope she made it out, but she’s yet to be found.
Like so many others affected by this disaster, my parents are now navigating the uncertainty of will happen next. The funds raised will help them with immediate living expenses or with needs that might not be covered by any other sources of aid, and easing the stress during this incredibly difficult time.
We know there are many people going through similar struggles, and we’re not alone in facing these hardships. If you’re able to contribute in any way, it would make a world of difference. Please feel free to share this message with anyone who may be able to help. Your kindness and support mean more than you can imagine. Thank you for standing with us.
