Jordan and Europe Refugee Relief

Donation protected
I am heading  overseas at the end of March to continue working with the refugees needing so much support.

Since leaving Lesvos, Greece in January I have felt like a piece of my heart was left there, winding itself inextricably with the beautiful people I have met, heart broken by their plight but also inspired by their incredible resilience and determination to seek a better life for themselves and their families. Part of me is there... checking updates all the time, staying in touch with a few refugees I connected more deeply with, and finding ways to help locally and overseas.

When I received an invitation from Global Outreach Doctors ( globaloutreachdoctors.org ) to join their medical team in Jordan at the Zaatari refugee camp I could not refuse. My heart said go! What a blessing to be able to be in service to those most in need. With Global Outreach Doctors I will be offering medical acupuncture at the Zaatari refugee camp's hospital and clinics for PTSD, trauma and pain.
About Global Outreach Doctors: The Global Outreach Doctors staff and partners collectively have worked in almost every corner of the globe. Unlike other organizations, Global Outreach Doctors provides both western and eastern complimentary medical practitioners. Our team includes medical doctors, nurses, paramedics, naturopaths, homeopaths, acupuncturists and psychologists. This provides optimal care for people in disaster and underserved areas.

Jordan, a small country of just eight million people, has taken in 628,175 Syrian refugees so far - more than the entire European Union has taken in over last year. What started as a temporary tent settlement for a few hundred Syrian refugees on a barren piece of land in July 2012 has quickly grown into an informal city, with schools, hospitals, playgrounds and mosques.
The Zaatari camp now houses approximately 100 000 refugees that have fled the conflict in Syria.

After Jordan, I will be spending about 2 weeks in Europe helping at various camps there. As the situation is quite volatile and changes quickly, my exact location is to be determined, but will be mostly between Lesvos, Athens and Idomeni in Greece.

Why do I go?
Because I can. because it is important to be present to be a witness to the situations and to be there in person for the people that most need help. Because I feel the acupuncture I give can help people cope with the trauma and pain they are experiencing and thus be better able to move forward in life and live more. Because this work calls to my heart.

The Costs:
Please help me return overseas so I can continue working with our fellow brothers and sisters in this crisis of humanity.
Donations are greatly appreciated to help cover my expenses.

I am hoping to raise enough funds for my flights and hotel and supplies. The total for this will be about $5000.

Here is what my costs will look like:
Flight to Amman $1500
Flights and transport in Europe $800
Hotel in Amman $97.0 per night. $1164 total for 12 nights. We are staying together as a group in a high security hotel.
Lodging in Europe will be about $630 for 2 weeks.
Supplies- $200

Any donations above this amount will go directly to continue supporting the organizations on the ground doing phenomenal work helping the refugees and the communities that support them.

Peace and Love.
