Patricia a 48 ans. Elle est autiste et atteinte de sclérose en plaques depuis plus de 10 ans.

Les membres de Patricia ne répondent presque plus aux messages de son cerveau. Mettre un pied devant l’autre est devenu un véritable combat. Elle avance parfois de deux ou trois pas, très lentement, en s’agrippant aux murs pour ne pas tomber. Mais la vérité, c’est que lorsqu’elle n’est pas couchée, elle doit être en chaise roulante. C’est la seule façon pour elle de se déplacer en sécurité. C’est ça, vivre avec la sclérose en plaques.

Elle vit actuellement chez son père, mais sa maison est pleine d’escaliers : elle ne peut plus y rester.

Sa mère, âgée de 70 ans, souhaite l’accueillir, mais sa maison n’est pas adaptée. Il n’y a aucune salle de bain au rez-de-chaussée, et aucun espace accessible.

Le seul espoir : transformer le garage en chambre avec salle de bain adaptée.

Cela permettrait à Patricia de vivre sur un seul niveau, dans un environnement sécuritaire, avec le soutien de sa mère. Le projet est urgent.

Le coût total des travaux est estimé à 80 000 $.

Même si la famille contribue du mieux qu’elle peut, les moyens sont trop limités. Aucune aide gouvernementale n’est disponible pour ce type de projet. Sans votre générosité, ces travaux sont tout simplement impossibles.

Qui est Patricia?

C’est une femme d’une grande intelligence et d’une grande sensibilité. Elle a un bac universitaire et a toujours été passionnée par le développement personnel. Elle fait tout pour rester positive, malgré un double défi immense : un corps qui ne suit plus, et un autisme qui complique encore davantage son quotidien.

Et pourtant, elle continue d’y croire

Patricia's limbs barely respond to her brain's messages. Putting one foot in front of the other has become a real struggle. She sometimes takes two or three steps, very slowly, holding onto the walls to keep from falling. But the truth is that when she's not lying down, she has to use a wheelchair. It's the only way she can get around safely. That's what living with multiple sclerosis is like.

She currently lives with her father, but his house is full of stairs: she can no longer stay there.

Her 70-year-old mother wants to take her in, but her house isn't adapted. There's no bathroom on the ground floor, and no accessible space.

The only hope: convert the garage into a bedroom with an adapted bathroom.

This would allow Patricia to live on one level, in a safe environment, with the support of her mother. The project is urgent.

The total cost of the work is estimated at $80,000.

Even if the family contributes as best they can, resources are too limited. No government assistance is available for this type of project. Without your generosity, this work is simply impossible.

Who is Patricia?
