Aidens university dream in Kinesiology & Track
Aiden is my nephew, whom I am very proud of. I have seen him grow into the young man he is now and has faced many challenges in his
life. Aiden, from a very young age, had to quickly learn how to over come all the obstacles in his way. The road he and his teenage single mother had to walk together wasn’t an easy one at all. Unfortunately, he was born out of violence and at the age of 18 months, while trying to protect his mom, he was abused by his father. This was enough driving force for his mom to find a way out of the situation and live alone.
Aiden grew up a very quiet kid but determined to make something out of his life. He worked hard every day on his academics and even
harder on his training to become an athlete. His family (mom, brother and sister), have always rooted for him. His mom works hard to provide for her family but is under a lot of financial stress and pressure to help make his dreams become a reality, with an approximate $22,000 a year tuition, room and board, transportation and books. Getting Aiden to University will help him also break the cycle of poverty that he has grown up in.
Aiden has many many medals and trophies in his cross country and track and field, at both the OFSAA and AO level, and is striving to be
our future Canadian Olympian. He was scouted at the end of grade 8, even after recovering from a sprained back caused by playing ultimate frisbee. The first year he competed at MTA Championships, Aiden won the gold in the 800m! Every year seemed to be a challenge. In his second year, he struggled with a serious knee injury and had surgery, and then got sick with cerebellum ataxia. It seems that life has been trying to take him down from a young age, but he keeps fighting. Aiden trained hard to recover and race every chance he got. After his injury Aiden wanted to learn more about how the body moves and decided that Kinesiology is the path that he wants his future to go in!!!
Aiden was accepted in to Three different universities, and after a long process of decision making he finally decided on going to
Lakehead university in Thunder Bay and we couldn’t be any prouder than we are in this moment, even if it means him leaving home and making it more difficult financially. Aiden has also been recruited by their Varsity Athletic program and will be competing at the NCAA levels. However, the only thing standing in his way is lack of financial resources. As an athlete, navigating the COVID-19 pandemic has been a big challenge, with the absence of competitions, sponsorships, and funding opportunities (not to mention lack of social interaction and shattered routines). Canada is also not known for the Athletic scholarships.
If you have made it this far reading, I’m truly thankful for your time, If you can donate that’s amazing, if not, believe me I understand. Everybody is struggling financially and we are living in tough times. Please help Aiden in any way you can with the cost of living and books.
EVERY donation is appreciated beyond words.
If you can, please share it to your friends and family.
LETS HELP AIDEN FULFILL HIS DREAM IN
THE OLYMPICS AND IN KINESIOLOGY!!!!!
