Hi and thanks for visiting my page, I'm Aiden and since August 2016 my life has changed significantly, but I hope with your help it won't be forever!
I have two severely damaged spinal discs in my lower back, one bulging and the other herniated, both are diseased and dehydrated which causes severe pain in my back and both legs.
Along with that since my original injury I've now got osteoarthritis in my neck from being bed bound so much, and have chronic tendonitis in my wrists from spending so much time in bed researching on my computer, both of these things cause added pain and discomfort...
I originally did a Go Fund Me page around June 2017 and managed to raise £1500 from very generous people towards the artificial disc surgery I was meant to have.
However I found out I have low bone density in my spine which can be classified as osteoporosis or osteopenia depending on the severity, I have various levels in my spine affected, and the worst level has 28% bone density loss.
From this I found out I have low testosterone and estrogen which most likely caused the low bone density, so I'm now on daily injections to improve hormone levels.
My surgery had to be cancelled and I looked at new ways to get fixed, I then found a way to inject medical cement into the bones, surgery was back on....
I then got a metal allergy test done and I'm allergic to nickel and titanium, pretty much all medical implants are made from these metals, there are no artificial discs available not in these metals, so surgery was cancelled again ( metal allergies especially to titanium are extremely rare, but luck just hasn't been on my side...)
The injury has affected my daily life in a dramatic way, I've been unable to work since November 2016 and after lots of incidents where my back has "gone" I've spent around 6 months in bed, one of the incidents sent my back muscles into spasm where my body shift like in my photo.... My shift isn't as bad now, but my pelvis has been shift out of place ever since.
Daily life is tough, I struggle to sit or stand for long due to pain, dressing, washing myself etc can be difficult, if I do too much one day I spend the day in bed the next, and overall I spend alot of time in bed as I'm just more comfortable that way.
I had surgery in Poland April 2018 which unfortunately hasn't worked, I've spoken with other people who had the surgery and they have their lives back, but again for me luck hasn't been on my side.
I now have the option of another surgery with good success rates which I have to try, but I've spent over £20,000 over the last two years trying to get fixed and I just don't have money left to pay for it.
It's hard to really put into words how much this situation has affected my life, I've fought very very hard to get fixed and don't want to give up, recording the video I did wasn't easy but I hope it portrays more than words how I feel and how much I want to get better....
PLEASE PLEASE DONATE WHAT YOU CAN, ANYTHING IS A HELP TOWARDS PAYING FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT.
