On September 30th, we took Aiden to the pediatrician because we had all gotten sick with pneumonia. The doctor's ordered a chest xray to see his lungs. However, they found a large mass too. They're certain it's a teratoma and noncancerous but the sheer size and it's location were cause for alarm. Jeff, Aiden and I have been flying out since October 1st to Kapiolani on Oahu since there isn't anything like this hospital on Maui. His surgery took place last Thursday on October 17th where the tumor was resected successfully. We thought we were in the clear but complications began to arise. The body's response to the tumor resection was a pneumothorax. The surgeons placed a chest tube in to drain the fluid out of his chest. We thought we were again on our way to recovery but upon feeding him a bottle of breast milk, we noticed it come right out of the chest tube. Aiden went back into surgery once they figured out there was a hole in his esophagus. The tumor was so big that when they removed it, it was a complication from the initial surgery. Aiden has been sedated since that surgery on Monday because he has tubes down his throat, hopefully healing his esophagus. It's better for him to be asleep than be uncomfortable. He will go back into the OR shortly and we hope and pray everything goes well so he may wake up.
Normally, we would never ask for money but since Jeff and I both exhausted our sick and vacation time when Aiden was initially born, we are stuck in a bind. Jeff has been flying back and forth to Maui so he can work and I have decided to stay with Aiden on Oahu. The hospital only allows one parent to stay in the hospital so Jeff's been staying in hotels too. We appreciate everyone for sending positive thoughts and prayers this way. Thank you so much for your time❤
