Aiden Dean Benitez was born on May 29, 2020. At two days old he was transported to Children's Memorial Herman, leaving behind a first time mother who had yet to be discharged. He was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect, Transposition of the Great Arteries (L-TGA).
Aiden underwent his first open heart surgery at 1 week old. In just a few short weeks of life, he has earned his heart warrior status and has been recovering remarkably well. However, he is expected to need another open heart surgery in the months to come.
Out of pocket expenses in addition to extended time off work have been increasing the financial strain for this family in a time of crisis. Their emotional energy is needed elsewhere and it is our goal to bring the community together to support them.
