On Thursday evening, July 23, our family’s lives changed forever.
Our sweet Aidan was involved in a devastating boating accident that resulted in the amputation of his right leg, along with severe injuries to his left leg and hip.
If you know Aidan, you know he never slows down. He’s always outside, playing baseball, football, wrestling, riding his bike, or finding some way to make everyone around him laugh. He has the biggest heart, the brightest smile, and a spirit that’s impossible not to love. Those who know him know just how special he is.
The days, weeks, and months ahead will be incredibly hard. Aidan still has surgeries ahead of him, followed by months of rehabilitation, physical therapy, learning to use a prosthetic, and adjusting to a life no eight-year-old should ever have to face.
Since the accident, Becca and Mikey haven’t left his side. They’ve been making impossible decisions while trying to stay strong for their little boy. At the same time, Braelyn is trying to understand how life changed so suddenly as she watches her little brother fight the toughest battle of his life.
Right now, Becca and Mikey’s only focus is helping Aidan heal. They’ll be away from work so they can be with him through surgeries, hospital stays, rehabilitation, and everything that comes next. Along with the emotional toll, there will be medical bills, travel expenses, prosthetic costs, and so many unexpected expenses along the way.
