Aidan's Medical Support and Evacuation Fund

Every parent’s nightmare has become a reality for our family. While visiting his family in Vietnam, my nephew Aidan became progressively sicker. He was rushed by ambulance to a hospital when he became unresponsive.

The doctors identified an abscess in his brain that was causing seizures and damage to his brain. After several days on antibiotics without success, the doctors suspected it may have been tuberculosis (TB) and had him moved to a hospital that specializes in caring for patients with TB.

Upon admission to the new hospital, he was rushed to surgery to remove the abscess to prevent further damage to his brain and to confirm his diagnosis by testing the abscess.

On New Year's Day, Aidan was confirmed to have Tuberculosis Meningitis.

He is currently being treated at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam. He is in critical condition and fighting for his life. He is unconscious and on a ventilator to help him breathe. He is in isolation so his parents are unable to be by his side while he fights this battle.

He just turned 1.

His road to recovery will be long and challenging. His doctors predict he will be on treatment for over 1 year. Even if he were to recover from this disease, the chance of long-term complications is high.

Unfortunately he does not have any travel insurance. His American medical insurance is not covered overseas. His family is paying for his medical bills out of pocket. They are reaching out for your support.
