Aidan's and Leeza's Therapy Fund
Donation protected
Leeza aged 6 and Aidan aged 5 are beautiful, happy children and they bring immense joy into my life. They are both unable to walk independently, stand unaided, have co ordination problems and have little speech however cognitively are bright.
They have been diagnosed as having a gene missing and their cerebellum is smaller than it should be. This is a very rare and seemingly is such newly discovered condition that it does not even have a name. It is being investigated by a leading genetics team at Leeds Hospital.
Leeza and Aidan have had Conductive Education Schooling which was a school which focused on walking it was a round trip of 70 miles away from our home. I made the daily return trip of 70 miles alone for four days a week from April 2013 till July 2014. Which was when I ran out of funds as I privately funded this. The children have made amazing progress and have now started Speech and Therapy Sessions. It has astonished me to see how their speech is progressing during the past few months. Finally we communicate together. Not yet fully but I live in hope and it is enough for me to understand them. Their friends at school have started to communicate and it is really great to see. The wonderful thing is that with help their communication skills will only get better.
After school and at weekends I also do their physiotherapy at home. Sometimes
it is so hard to fit everything in especially as I am doing everything with two children with disabilities. We also have speech therapy sessions at home, school work and simple everyday things. They take up every minute of my life and therefore I am unable to work outside the home. Sometimes I feel things have become too difficult for me alone, but I see the amazing progress of my beautiful children that I am given the strength of will to continue all our routines. I need to raise £11000 so they can have three weeks of intensive therapy at a therapy place in Harrogate called Therapy in Praxis. The Physiotherapists and occupational therapist will work on strength, stretching, balance and walking and Speech. Their progress is slow but steady and they have both started to walk with walking frames and tripods. Please can you give even a small amount to help these beautiful, wonderful children with their physiotherapy. The physiotherapists are optimistic that Leeza and Aidan can become independent walkers. As parents and grandparents, aunties and uncles, this is thankfully something we take for granted. Please help them on their wonderful journey to taking their first independent steps and then hopefully to grow up, becoming independent, happy and healthy young people. Your donation will be invaluable. THANK YOU. Leeza and Aidans Mum
